The law doesn’t require one, and you can file everything yourself. But directors are personally responsible for accurate accounts, Corporation Tax and Companies House filings, and mistakes lead to penalties. An accountant keeps you compliant, claims every allowable expense and advises on the most tax-efficient way to take money out of the company.
A one-off year-end package with us starts from £150 and covers your year-end accounts, Company Tax Return, accounts filing and Confirmation Statement. Our monthly service starts from £75 per month and adds VAT returns, payroll, bookkeeping, a director’s personal tax return and tax planning. Get an instant quote for your exact fee.
They prepare your annual accounts and Company Tax Return, file them with Companies House and HMRC, submit your Confirmation Statement, handle VAT and payroll if needed, and advise on salary and dividends, expenses and tax planning.
Accounts are due at Companies House 9 months after your financial year end. Corporation Tax is normally payable 9 months and 1 day after the end of the accounting period, and the Company Tax Return is due 12 months after it. The Confirmation Statement must be filed at least once every 12 months. Late filing triggers automatic penalties, so we send reminders well in advance.
Currently 19% on profits up to £50,000 and 25% on profits above £250,000, with marginal relief on profits in between. We calculate which rate applies and reduce your bill through allowable expenses and reliefs.
Many directors take a modest salary and top up with dividends from post-tax profit, but the best mix depends on your profits, other income and goals. We review it with you every year as part of your tax efficiency review.
You must register when taxable turnover passes the VAT threshold (currently £90,000 in any rolling 12 months). You can also register voluntarily earlier. We handle VAT registration for free if you need it, and file your VAT returns.
